*Etiquette for Adhaan*

*Etiquette for Adhaan*

When Adhaan begins, stop what you are doing and listen to the adhaan.

Reply to the adhaan with the same words as the muadhin.

When he says : Haya ‘alas salaah and Haya ‘alal Falaah,
Reply: la hawla wa la quwatta illah billah.

After adhaan is complete, recite Durood e Ebrahim for RasulAllah salallahu alayhi wasallam. [Sahih Muslim]

Then recite the dua of wasilah:

*Allahumma Rabba hazihid- da‘awatit taammati was salaatil qaa immati, aatee Muhammadanil wasilata wal fadeelatta wabath-hu maqaamam mahmuda nilladhi wa‘adtahu (innaka la tukhliful mi’ad).*

Translation:

Oh ALLAH, Lord of this most perfect call, and of the Prayer that is about to be established, grant to Muhammad the favor of nearness (to You) and excellence and a place of distinction, and exalt him to a position of glory that You have promised him, surely you do not go back on your promise. [Bayhaq]

• Narrated by Jabir bin ‘Abdullah radhiallahu anhu: Allah’s Messenger salallahu alayhi wasallam said: “Whoever after listening to the adhan says (above dua) then intercession for me will be permitted for him on the Day of Resurrection”. [Sahih Bukhari]

*Make dua to ALLAH in between the adhaan and iqamaah*

You can ask ALLAH The Almighty anything for yourself and family or friends, because your supplication will be answered at this time.

The Prophet Muhammad (salallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Repeat the words of the Mo’addien and when you finish, ask ALLAH what you want and you will get it” [Abu Daawood]

*SUMMARY OF WHAT WE SHOULD DO UPON HEARING THE ADHAN:*

1. Stop what you are doing and Stay focused on the adhaan.

2. Repeat what the muadhin says except for hayya alas-salah and hayya-ala-falah
– Instead say la hawla wala Quwatta illa billa

3. After adhan send salaah on Prophet Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasallam – (Recite Durood e Ebrahim)

4. Then say the dua’ of wasilah

5. Make dua between azaan and iqaamah.

We have the opportunity of making this ibaadat 5 times a day and have our duas answered. Yet most of us are busy chatting or busy with our phones when adhaan is going, so this precious opportunity is wasted day after day.
